SeaSEC Challenge Weeks 2025 at Campus@Se

Where Technology, Security and Collaboration Meet

From 12 to 23 May 2025, Campus@Sea in the Port of Scheveningen served as the operational heart of the SeaSEC Challenge Weeks — an international test and demonstration period where civil, military, and industrial partners joined forces to protect critical underwater infrastructure such as power cables, pipelines, and offshore wind installations.

What are the SeaSEC Challenge Weeks?
Organised by the SeaSEC – Seabed Security Experimentation Center, the Challenge Weeks brought together consortia of navies, companies, research institutes, and startups to collaborate in realistic scenarios using:

The Maritime Testing Ground off the coast of Scheveningen — a 10×10 nautical mile offshore testbed — provided an ideal environment for large-scale experimentation in real conditions.

From competition to collaboration
One of the most remarkable aspects of SCW25 was the close collaboration between organizations that are usually market competitors. During these two weeks, they operated as colleagues — a powerful configuration that enabled successful challenge execution and accelerated innovation. The partnerships formed during SCW25 have already proven valuable and are expected to continue well beyond the event itself.

Visitors and strategic engagement
Another major highlight was the enthusiastic participation of over 300 visitors who came to observe live challenges and demonstrations. These visitors — including policymakers, defense representatives, academics, and business leaders — engaged in strategic discussions and networking activities. The Distinguished Visitors Day, attended by the Chief of Defence and the State Secretary for Defence of the Netherlands, served as the formal and strategic pinnacle of the event.

Campus@Sea’s role
Campus@Sea hosted the onshore coordination, built and maintained energy and data infrastructure, and welcomed international delegations. With the essential support of local partners such as Van der Zwan, the Port Authority, and businesses along the Hellingweg, we were able to provide the logistical and operational foundation for this large-scale testing operation.

Outcome
The SeaSEC Challenge Weeks 2025 demonstrated that interdisciplinary collaboration, shared facilities, and open knowledge exchange are critical to securing a resilient future for the North Sea. Campus@Sea is proud to have played a key role and looks forward to the innovations and partnerships that will emerge from this momentum.
