The North Sea, with its unique sea conditions, is a perfect testing ground. The Maritime Testing Ground is an offshore testing location belonging to Campus@Sea, measuring 10 x 10 nautical miles off the coast of Scheveningen.
Here, technology developers can conduct live tests to validate their innovations and offer potential clients and licensing authorities a “proof of concept”.
Many technologies that have been tested and validated in the North Sea can be applied worldwide, offering export opportunities for Dutch technology developers.
The Maritime Testing Ground is a valuable addition to the extensive testing facilities of Marin and Deltares.

With support from Kansen voor West 3, PZH, GDH and others, Campus@Sea will establish a grid connection between the Offshore Test Site and platform Q13a in the coming years. This grid connection can be used by community members for a fee.
Commissioned by the Province of South Holland, Campus@Sea is working with community members to develop a joint anchoring system that can be used for tests at the Maritime Testing Ground.
Campus@Sea is in talks with potential users of the Maritime Testing Ground about making a workboat available.
The Maritime Testing Ground offers start-ups and SMEs the opportunity
to test and demonstrate their innovative products with end users
in real-life conditions on the water.
The Maritime Testing Ground includes the Offshore Test Site (OTS), a location where new innovations can be tested at sea over a long period of time.
Twelve kilometres (6.5 nautical miles) off the coast of Scheveningen, North Sea Farmers has a licence to use 6 km2 of the North Sea as an Offshore Test Site. Start-ups and scale-ups can test their innovations here under demanding offshore conditions for a monthly fee.
