Campus@Sea is contributing to TU Delft’s Technology-Based Entrepreneurship Minor as a challenge provider. The minor focuses on stimulating entrepreneurship by having student teams develop technological innovations for various challenge providers. Students are challenged to recognise and exploit new market opportunities. The Campus@Sea challenge gives students the opportunity to apply their knowledge directly in practice and gain experience in solving current issues in the maritime sector.
Campus@Sea challenge: Revolutionising Maritime Operations
The challenge submitted by Campus@Sea is about revolutionising maritime operations and focuses on developing sustainable innovations in the blue economy. The North Sea plays a central role in today’s energy transition and climate protection, and this challenge challenges students to come up with technology-based solutions for multiple uses at sea.
Company visit and introduction to companies from the Campus@Sea network
On 13 September, six student groups participating in the Campus@Sea challenge visited Campus@Sea in Scheveningen. Besides an extensive introduction to Campus@Sea, the students were introduced to two companies from the Campus@Sea network: Weco and Elemental Watermakers.
Both companies were founded by former TU Delft students, who also previously attended the Technology-Based Entrepreneurship minor. The founders shared their experiences and gave valuable insights on their journey from idea to successful business, which inspired the students to further develop their own innovative solutions.
Future innovations and mentoring
Campus@Sea offers not only a challenging assignment, but also a valuable network and guidance from experienced entrepreneurs. We aim to accelerate the practical application of offshore innovations through co-creation and collaboration with academic, industrial and research bodies. Moreover, challenge teams will have the opportunity to further develop their ideas in collaboration with the Campus@Sea Startup Studio, with the aim of launching their own startup.
With their participation in this challenge, students not only get the chance to contribute to the sustainable future of maritime operations, but also develop essential entrepreneurship skills that prepare them for future careers as entrepreneurs in the blue economy.
